| About
the site 18tilidie.co.uk arrived on your computer screens in May 2003
with many new bright ideas that have been the first to grace a Bryan Adams fansite.
With it's launch was the start of the first ever 'gig archive' on the internet.
Something that has never been attempted before to our knowledge, not just on Bryan
fansites...but any. Putting all this data online for the public is the last stage
of a research project on-going since 1994. 18tilidie.co.uk will eventually have
data from every Bryan Adams show...ever. The 'gig
archive' is the core of the site but other original features also included were
'stage setups', 'mp3 of the week' and a monthly competition to give away Bryan
Adams prizes every month, another first for a Bryan Adams fansite. How
I created the site: Despite it's looks 18tilidie.co.uk wasn't actually created
with all the latest PC equipment you might think. All that was used originally
was a 200MHz PC running Windows 95 (that was 7 years old!!!), Dreamweaver 4 Ultradev,
a java applet and simple image editing software. Now though, I use an XP laptop
so I can update the site in the future while I am maybe on the road watching the
band. However the fact remains that you don't need flashy equipment to run a good
website...just a simple imagination and a lot of time on your hands! The bit that
takes all the time is setting up the layout at the start. From then on you just
add content as and when you can. Not a lot of HTML knowledge is needed either,
web designing is simpler than you think
it is just very time consuming. If
you are interested there are many courses that can teach you the basics
however
I learnt from simply messing about and playing with Dreamweaver until I figured
it out and reckoned I could tackle a proper website like this. There are people
about though who can copy your research and efforts (as we have found out with
one site in particular)...we strongly urge you to copyright everything you do.
Adrian deals with all the website issues, if someone causes a problem it's usually
him that sorts it out as I am way too busy designing the site to bother with people
like that. Other than that happy web designing! - Steven I
