Waking Up The Neighbours (1991)
After a long time in the studio trying to find life after Jim Vallance, Bryan eventually released the long awaited album 'Waking Up The Neighbours'. After the huge success of leading single 'Everything I Do', the release of this album followed suit and the rocking long player (produced by Mutt Lange) went to #1 around the world. This album catapulted Bryan into A-list megastardom.

It's well documented that after Bryan and Jim Vallance stopped working together after the 'Into The Fire' album, Bryan had trouble getting back into the swing of things in the studio. He first started working with Jim on some songs and also Steve Lillywhite but Bryan scrapped both projects and started again... which is why fans were left with such a long wait for the next Adams LP. 11 songs were penned with Vallance including 'Lucky Day', 'No Way Out', 'Bouncin' Off The Walls' (which became 'House Arrest'), and 'Rescue Me' (which became 'Do I Have To Say The Words'). So... Bryan started working with Mutt Lange in '89 on what would become Bryan's most successful album internationally to date. Writing started at Mutt's house on April 6th '89 with the first song they wrote together... 'Thought I'd Died And Gone To Heaven'. By April 2nd '91, Bryan and Mutt had 12 songs all mixed and ready to be given the once over by Bob Clearmountain. They had worked night and day in 'Battery Studios', Willesden, North London, where the majority of the recording for the album was done. However... Bob couldn't mix the album for another 2 weeks. So while they were waiting for Bob, they decided they might as well come up with some b-sides for the album. They wrote 3 more songs; 'Vanishing', 'Hey Honey...I'm Packin' You In!' and '(Everything I Do) I Do It For You'. All 3 new songs were added to the album at the last minute, which makes it the longest running Adams studio album clocking in at just under 75 minutes - over double the length of the paltry 36 minutes of 2004's 'Room Service'.

It took Bryan and Mutt just 45 minutes to write 'Everything I Do' in a small backroom of 'Battery Studios'. Little did they know it would become one of the biggest songs of all time, selling 8 million copies worldwide and setting new chart records in the UK (16 weeks at #1) and the US (8 weeks at #1). Infact in the UK the record company dis-continued the song (so it could infact have gone further than 16 weeks) so that they could release the album! As of writing 'Waking Up The Neighbours' has sold over 12 million units worldwide.
