08/05/04 - THE DIAMOND, SUTTON-IN-ASHFIELD

Review by Steven Stanley:
Andrea and I setoff for 'The Diamond' fairly early this time so we could get a good spot near the front after the busy experience in Hull a couple of week before! We arrived at the pub and saw the lads red 'fruit and veg' van so we knew we were in the right place! We managed to get in for the 'soundcheck' anyway and we were treated to a 'Heaven' instrumental and some funny photos of Stuart in Gary's photo book!

It seemed like an eternity before the boys came on stage but when they did it was well worth it. The gig was the best I have ever seen them. They were on fire tonight and the crowd loved it! 'All I Want Is You' was amazing...I could not tell the difference between them and Bryan. That was probably the best song I have heard them do.

The crowd was top notch...they sang with all the passion of a normal BA crowd and matched Stuart word for word on 'Straight From The Heart' and 'Let's Make A Night To Remember'.

The boys even did '69 3 times....yes 3 times because the crowd loved them so much! First just acoustic just because the crowd was singing it....later in the show as normal and then another mammoth version at the end with an audience member on lead vocals and the landlord on lead guitar!

Cuts Like A Knife was cool too with Stuart venturing into the pub while still playing his guitar......he got his bum pinched a few times tonight! A few funny moment to say the least!

Unfortunately our batteries ran out on the camera but we could have got some awesome shots! The lads did about 75 encores and we were left wondering what songs they hadn't done because they had done so many! At the end of the show me and Andrea were left with our ears ringing from standing next to the speakers all the gig but it was well worth it! A quality show.
