25/02/98 - A&B SOUND WAREHOUSE, VANCOUVER

Review by Bryan King:
We meet in the hotel lobby at 8:30. It's snowed the night before so the roads don't look as quick as they did the day before. Crap - delays!!! Three of the eight of us are opting for a flight back to Vancouver in order to assure themselves a spot at the free show. Five of us make the trip back to Vancouver, three pay some good coin for the flight. They'll get to the show. Us in the van don't know.

7 hours into the trip we find out that only 150 people have lines outside the A&B sound warehouse for the show. We're confident that we'll make it, but still pick up the pace a little bit. We pull into Vancouver just after 5pm. We made the trip in 8 1/2 hours. We race out of the van and run a few hundred metres to the line up for the show. We get wrist bands! We made it and we're assured a spot inside!!! Mission accomplished.

Shelly Grigg gives myself and Colleen our photos of us with Bryan. Both are good shots so we're pleased.

After waiting over 90 minutes in the wet weather, we all file into a warehouse room that's been cleared of all inventory for the BA show. We're pretty far back and can't see much. Too bad, but we're still in. We see our friends who flew back closer to the stage.

BA and the band come on stage and play five quick songs acoustically. We find out later that BA cancelled his press conference with the Vancouver media that day in order to save his voice for his 25 minute/five song set today.

Since we can't see much, half way through the set, Colleen, Ben, Jane and I get in the autograph line and listen to the music outside. Music ends, and the autographs start. We wait about an hour in the line and then we get to the table where Bryan and the band are signing CD's.

Bryan sees Colleen who's trying to get her picture with Bryan by the van the night before in Prince George. Kim Blake, Bryan's publicist is monitoring what gets signed and doesn't get signed. She says that only our CD booklets will be signed, not the photos. BA looks up at Colleen and says "I remember you, give me that photo". Bryan then sees me and I slip past Kim with my photo and he signs it: "Hi Bryan...Bryan Adams '98".

Mickey sees me and gets a big grin on his face and says "hey, you made it!". Keith remembers Colleen and says hi. We're feeling pretty good, but no time to chat to them. The band signs the CD booklets we bought at the store. We say good-bye and we'll see him tomorrow night.

The trip was a long one, but the fact that they recognized us makes us feel good and it was worthwhile.

We get a night to rest up before the final show of our brief trip and of the Canadian tour.
