13/12/98 - 'Q95 SHOW', ROYAL OAK MUSIC THEATRE, DETROIT, MI

The band play a radio show in 'Royal Oak, MI' near Detroit. They venture onto the stage for the very first time as a trio. Gone are Dave Taylor, Tommy Mandel and Danny Cummings. Bryan is now on bass with Keith on guitar and Mickey on drums. The whole live show is now up in the air and they have to re-arrange all their songs from scratch to work in a live environment.

Review by Amanda:
Hey everyone!! I just saw Bryan Adams at the Q95 show in detroit. Overall, it was a pretty good show, but i have been to four other shows of his around michigan back in 93-94 and frankly, it didn't even compare.

First of all, no Dave. that made me really sad. So Bryan was playing bass. So that was weird. He had all the sheet music out for each song and was reading off of it for the whole thing. So he couldn't like run around or anything like that. Plus there were some techincal difficulties with the speakers and stuff like that, so that seemed to preoccupy him.

Plus, this was really wierd to me. there were no keyboards or piano anywhere to be seen. When they did 'Can't Stop This Thing We Started' and 'Back To You', you could tell the keyboards were sorely missing.

BUT, on a high note. Keith and Mickey were there, and both of them were AWESOME. Mickey was smiling like the whole time, and it made me smile. Keith was really rocking on the guitar, I never before noticed how good he was.

Bryan was pretty good too, but like I said he was preoccupied. Both of my friends that went are not really fans of his, but they both said that he seemed sad. On the other hand, I didn't really notice that, but he didn't seem as into this as he has at other performances.

They performed 'The Only Thing That Looks Good On Me Is You', 'Back To You', 'Go For Broke', 'Cuts Like A Knife' (that one was really awesome), 'Heaven'. 'Can't Stop This Thing We Started', 'Somebody', 'Summer Of '69', 'On A Day Like Today', 'When You're Gone', 'C'mon Everybody' -- it was a really short set. But there were three acts before him.

So that is it from my perspective. I was glad to see him, and think he performed well under the circumstances, but still.... they definitely need Dave and Tommy. You think he could have found someone to fill in, ya know.

But like I said, I think it is very admirable that he came, considering it was cancelled and what not. The fans were definietly into him, that is for sure.
