19/02/99 - KAUFLEWER CLUB, ZURICH
Review by Frances:
We (Susanne, my friend Ursula and I) started to drive to Zurich
short before 7 pm. It was raining cats and dogs, anyway we reached
Zurich short before 8 pm and.... stucked fast :-(. Well.... everything
comes the way it has to....
At 8.20 We finally were at the club, but it seemed
as if all the other people had the same idea and came with the car,
so we had to drive around for another 10 minutes and look for a
parking place. Luckily found on then pretty close... actually it
was meant for buses (hope my car doesn't get megalomaniac now ;)
). We got out of the car, walked fast around the corner and entered
in the club. It was about half full already but it was still possible
to go pretty close to the stage, so finally we stood about 7, 8
meters from the stage, right in front of Bryan.

Exactly at 9 pm the lights went down, everybody
screemed and yelled and then we heard the guitar intro of Summer
of '69, then the lights went up again and there they were, the milky
guys :)). My oh my, that was a look! All dressed in white, white
Marshall towers, white drums, white guitars... I thought I had to
get my sunglasses 8-), heehee! In the beginning it seemed to us
that Bryan was not in a very good mood, he didn't speak one word,
didn't announce the songs, but after about 4, 5 songs they played
"getaway" and from them he seemed to thaw up (sp?) and
from now on it was a real pleasure :-D. They played for about 1
hour 20 minutes, and then did two encores.
Here's the songs I remember right now:
'69
Getaway
Back to you
I don't wanna live forever
WYG
TOTTLGOM
Blues Jam
Heaven
Somebody
I'm ready (unplugged!)
A song about a dog *ROTFLPIMP!!!*
and lots more!

After the encores they disappeared, the lights went
on and slowly people spread away. We went to the bar having a beer
and making some more photos, then we thought of leaving and driving
back home. When we walked toward the exit we saw that there was
a separate area built with tables, all with a "reserve"
sign. I asked the guy standing there: "Are there some high
guest expected?" He: yes. Me: "Very high guest?"
He: yes, very high guest. Me: "Extremely hight guest?"
He: Well, the expected guest were extremely high on stage before!
Me:"What time?" He: in about 30 minutes. So we decided
to wait and took place right in front of this area which was separated
by ropes.
We stood there for some time, our legs slowly grew
in our bellies ;) and finally I saw Bryan walking toward us, now
completely dressed in black, looking down on his feet, accompained
by two healthy looking ;) security guys. They passed right by us
and I followed them to look where they go: they went to the stage,
up and disappeared behind. We thought now that he'll be back in
a few moments and we probably get our CD-booklets signed which we
brought with us. But nothing..... we waited and waited...... at
about 15 minutes before 1 am we decided to leave since we were sure
he was nicely huddled in the sheets of his cosy warm bed 'cos he
has to fly back to germany today... and we had to drive back home
for another hour, still in the pouring rain.
Anyway it was a great night and definitely "a
night I will be able to remember"
