30/05/99 - ORPHEUM, VIENNA

Review by Anita Ghozlan:
It was one of the club gigs, that Bryan did at very small venues. The “Orpheum” in the 22nd district of Vienna can take only between 600 and 700 people – this is almost like a rock concert in your living room!

As me, my husband and our friends have already been fans, but we had never been to one of BA’s concerts before, we thought that this would be a nice chance to really enjoy a concert. In this time there was no sale via internet, so my friend went by bike in the morning when the ticket-shop opened, to buy our tickets quickly.

Unfortunately the security at the entrance took our cameras away and we had to get it again after the show! So I only got some copies of photos by Marzia from Italy this year!

At this time Bryan was only accompanied by Keith and Mickey – all three dressed in white. Even all their instruments and the devices were white.

Bryan was in a good mood. There was a guy, who asked him several times to play “Everything I do”. After hearing this several times Bryan told him – pretending the same Austrian accent - :” I will not play “Everrrithing I dooo”. – so everybody was laughing.

When they were going to play “The only thing that looks good on me is you”, Bryan said that everybody who took off his top (!!!) could be with him on the small stage! So they were playing the song and some girls in their bra and some topless guys were jumping around on the stage.

Then Bryan asked the one who had always asked for EID before (and who was also topless on the stage now) about his name. The guy said: “My name is Günther.” So Bryan began to sing “My name is Günther”. He made a song of this sentence and so he and we all were singing: „my name is Günther“ for a while.

It was such great fun for everybody and Bryan had obviously as much fun as we all had. I can’t remember the setlist after all this time, but definitely he played the Blues, which I always miss at concerts now.

I’ll never forget my first concert and when I pass at the venue from time to time I have always to remember WHO was there in this tiny place in my district.
