04/10/99 - TELEWEST ARENA, NEWCASTLE Review
by Lindsey McKenna: Bryan Adams is mega star but I feel he rarely receives
the praise his talent deserves. But at Newcastle Arena last night his talents
were truly appreciated by a packed house that raised the roof for the rocking
Canadian. Blending soft rock with ballads, Adams threw himself into a varied two-hour
set for his first show in four weeks. After a few chords of his first song the
crowd were on their feet dancing and clapping their hands. Other songs to make
the audience jump and shout were Can't Stop This Thing We've Started, Run To You
and 18 'till I Die. He dressed in simple white trousers and a T-shirt and drove
the crowd wild with a succession of hits. To end the night Adams performed his
new song The Best of Me, due out in three weeks. The love song was supported with
stunning guitar and drum work by his band. To support Adams, sassy band Republica
performed an array of techno rock dance songs which had every generation clapping
hands.
