06/05/00 BEALE STREET FESTIVAL, MEMPHIS, TN, USA

Article by Malvika Nanda (from when he met BA in Memphis):
The summer of 2000 connects Hindrockers Euphoria with Bryan Adams. That year, at the Beale Street Festival, Memphis, the Indian rockers performed with the rock icon, besides others such as 3 Doors Down, Third Eye Blind and Collective Soul. The Euphoria green room was, in fact, next to the Canadian superstar’s.
Euphoria frontman Palash Sen recalls Adams as a no-fuss person. “He doesn’t have ‘showman’ airs. It’s his music that has made him a cult figure. At Memphis they were a three-piece band, nothing flamboyant about the players but extravagance dripped from their music.” In fact, Adams is so unassuming that Palash and his colleagues didn’t notice him at first.
“Adams was keen to find out more about Indian music and instruments. He also asked us to help him locate sites from where he could buy a sitar,” recalls Palash.
Indian cuisine, particularly curries, and our music interest Adams too. “He is very fond of Indian food. He even cooks it for himself. And everything from Indian dal and sabzi come under his category of favourites. Adams was curious about the Indian music scene and was pleased to learn that he has a strong fan base here,” says Palash.
