16/12/00 - THE VATICAN,
ROME Review by Robertra De Silvestre: This year
Bryan was one of the guests (actually "the star of the evening", like
the main Italian newspaper put it ;)) of the traditional Christmas at the Vatican
concert. All the artists performed for free to help a charity project, and
they all met the Pope the day before the show. The concert was broadcasted on
TV and radio on Christmas Eve. We got tickets for the show and enjoyed it
*so much*! All of it was very special - but the highlight was, of course, Bryan,
who opened the show and charmed everyone with a touching "Christmas Time"
on the acoustic guitar (gave me *shivers*!!), and then ROCKED the place with his
new song written right for the occasion: "On Christmas Day"! At the
end, he came back on stage to sing "Happy Christmas" with everyone else.

While
he was wearing a dark jacket & tie when he met the Pope, he was all in white
at the concert: his usual outfit! We had so much fun cheering for him among
such an elegant (and pretty old ;)!) audience! :))) We
also had the chance to meet the guys before the show. Bryan was rushing to get
ready for the show, but Keith and Mickey came walking and stopped to chat and
take pics with us for quite a while! Thanks guys!!! Keith greeted me by saying
"You're dry this time!!!" in reference to our last meeting in Rankweil
... *BLUSH!!!* ... and then gave Mickey his camera to take a pic of us all with
him! ... Mickey told us about the new album, which should come out some time next
year. The guys had much fun in Rome and it sounded like they really loved meeting
the Pope. |
