23/08/01 - PREHEN FIELDS, DERRY,
IRELAND
About 9,000 people have enjoyed what is believed
to be the largest ever outdoor concert in Londonderry.
The Canadian rocker, Bryan Adams wowed the crowds at Derry's Prehen
playing fields with a string of hits, including 'Summer of '69'
and the record-breaking 1991 single, 'Everything I do, I do it for
you'.
The concert was the star's only performance in Ireland
this year.
The highlight of the night was when a student from
nearby Limavady was invited on stage to sing a duet with the star.
The concert's promoter said it had been an 'outstanding
success'.
Speaking on his arrival at Derry City Airport, Mr
Adams said it was great to be out of the studio and that he was
looking forward to the concert.
The singer headlined the annual Slane concert in
County Meath last year, when he performed alongside Spice Girl Melanie
C, dance act Moby and soul singer Macy Gray.
