10/03/02 - WEMBLEY ARENA

Review by Steven Stanley:
We set off from Sheffield at 5.30am down to London. We got there about 3 hours later and checked into our hotel and got a taxi straight down to the venue. We were there for about 9.00am or something like that and I was actually surprised about how run down the whole Wembley complex is now. The stadium looks a shadow of it's former self and it's actually embarrasing to look at it now. Even the arena looks ropey on the outside.

The day of queueing went really quickly actually and we were with the web-boarders like we always are in the plastic tent sheets...here is Claire taking residence in #69 Wembley Way...eventually her home blew away lol!

Here we are all doing a Wembley wave!

Is it me or is Adrian a total wapcan?! That kid is funny! We all needed somewhere to sit down so he took me and Mike around the other side of the Arena at the back of the stadium to pinch some terraced seating that had been ripped out of there. We were wandering down Wembley Way past the security (when their backs were turned!) with bloody Wembley seats. It was soooo funny! (Pictures on the right >) We thought BA would be in a good mood today anyway because his team Chelsea won local rivals Spurs 4-0.

Anyway about an hour before the gig us that had been queuing for literally 10 hours were getting mad at the people trying to push in the queue. We made the security push everyone backso it was fair in the end. It was a dodgy looking man and his goddam ugly wife that were the ring leaders...oi mate get a job! Enough bitching anyway on with the gig :)

He came on with 'Back To You' as normal and as you might expect Wembley went wild! During 'Everything I Do' two people were holding up lighters and sparklers and after the song BA critized the security guards for making them put them out...I bet they felt 'that' small! Pretty disapointed setlist wise from the gig...the same setlist as normal with no frills that you might normally expect from Wembley. As soon as he got the crowd going wild near the end of the gig he started singing 'The Best Of Me'. Goddam it Bryan you should have played something more appropriate like 'Kids Wanna Rock'. Still a good gig though.

Bryan did come out to sign after the gig but as I had already bin there done that and got the t-shirt (plus I was knackered after standing for 14 hours) I decided to call it a night. Great gig though and I'm glad I went but the Cardiff gig still tops it for me. Bryan left the stage with everyone singing 'Wembley Wembley Wembley!'. If only he had played next door :)

Adrian: keeping the crowd entertained while we queued!

Adrian: "Right c'mon lads let's nick these seats...nobody will see us while we are walking down Wembley Way in broad daylight!...."

".......honest! C'mon lads we can flog these down Rotherham market afterwards!!!!"

BA shows Wembley what it's been missing:
