15/06/03 - SEACLOSE PARK, NEWPORT, ISLE OF WIGHT

This is a transcript of the interview Bryan did with Wave 105 FM at the IOW Festival - this was featured in a local magazine called Compass.

I DO IT FOR YOU
Compass caught up with
BRYAN ADAMS
when he spoke to Matt Hopper on Wave 105

Matt: Welcome to Wave 105!
Bryan: Thank you
MH: What would be your top five songs?
BA: Well I don't know exactly what song I'd choose but I probably would definitely choose a Jimi Hendrix song because we're on the Isle of Wight and his legacy here. I think this was his last gig, is that right?
MH: That's right, yeah
BA: And then I'd probably throw a David Bowie song in there, and a Led Zepplin song, A T-Rex song. Is that four or five?
MH: That's about four
BA: OK, throw a Beach Boys song in too - 'Barbara Ann'
MH: You're just about to go on stage, well a little bit later. Do you like these festival events?
BA: Yeah, really a lot. First of all, I like being outside, especially when it's a beautiful night. And, there's something about playing in an outdoor festival. It's a different ambience than what you would get in a regular sort of arena or indoor show.
MH: Do British audiences let go a bit more at these outdoor events, do you think, because we're notoriously restrained
BA: Not necessarily. Some of my best shows have been in England and the wildest. Definitely the best sing-alongs.
MH: Your life is changing in a sense, Bryan, isn't it, because the photography thing is taking over your life since the Jubilee year. You've done an awful lot more photography
BA: Yeah, I like doing it, but it's certainly not stopping me from my music. I have a sort of create or die sort of attitude, so whatever time I have I maximise it with some kind of art, whether it be music or photography, so I keep myself very busy
MH: Are you working on new music at the moment:
BA: I am, yeah, I have a new album coming out September
MH: Thank you very much indeed
BA: Thank you very much for having me Great!
