08/04/04 - MAZDAPALACE, MILAN

Review by Steven Stanley:
We headed to Milan the day after Bolzano to have an extra day in Milan before the show. We didn't think the show would top Bolzano so were just going to enjoy ourselves. We saw the venue the day before and it was in a strange place to say the least! The night before the gig we also saw Keith shoot off to a hotel in town but we didn't catch him!

After Bolzano we didn't think we would need to queue that early, but how wrong we were. On the day of the gig we turned up just before midday and there were loads there! This was no sleepy mountain town...Milan was starved of rock and by late afternoon the queue was in it's thousands I would say....there were certainly a lot there.

We weren't far off the front though and were in the same queue as Roberta (an Italian fan we know from previous gigs). Also there was Alessandra from Italy and Chris from the UK who we had seen in Zurich a few days before. Myself and Adrian wandered around the back and sat watching traffic waiting for BA to come but eventually gave up as we were told he wasn't going to arrive at the venue until shortly before the show. There was no soundcheck.

The day was really really hot and sunny too and it made queing uncomfy sometimes but it was worth it in the end. Despite the doors being opened together and us not being at the front of the queue....mine and Adrians fast running and long distance between the queue and the arena floor got us a very good front row spot near Keith's mike which was awesome for the last show.

Milan of course went wild when BA hit the stage after an Italian band support act. They sang every word of every song! The crowd was just as mad as Bolzano and bounced to every rocker and sang there hearts out during 'Summer Of '69'. They kept on singing even after the song and when BA pulled out the strat for 'It's Only Love', we all thought he was gonna extend '69 in a full rock version because the crowd loved it! Still a good setlist even though we were not treated to the extra songs we got in Zurich, Kempten and Bolzano.

Unfortunately Adrian's girlfriend Joanne was ill during the last 2 songs and was taken backstage with Adrian. She did get to kiss Keith though and Adrian briefly spoke to Bryan and Keith which was nice for them seeing as they missed part of the show.

BA was on top form and it was nice to meet all the baddies...Alessandra and friends, Roberta and friends, Sabina from Majorca, Chris from the UK and all the others. I got videos from the show too like I did in Clearwater which just are amazing. It was an amazing show and rounded off an excellent week in Europe.
