04/06/04 - MOLLEPARKEN,
AALBORG Review
by Nicolai
Godrim: Arriving at the venue I was SO excited. As I still havent
attended a lot of B_As concerts, this one was only my second, with the Skive
gig on the 12th. 2003 being my first, I still get a VERY big rush of adrenaline
every time I go to his concerts. This time I was particularly excited as Id
brought my Mini Disc and a microphone, with the intention being to, hopefully,
bootleg the concert. In the days before the concert, Id thought long and
hard about how to get my rec. equipment pass security, but it turned out to be
a piece of cake. After having gotten past security, me and my
dad, due to my disability he went as my assistant, tried to find ourselves a good
spot in the venue where we could get a very good view of the band and, of course,
Bryan in particular. We succeeded!!! The support act was Johnny Madsen (a
Danish singer) and his band. Andrew Strong was also a part of the support act
but unfortunately we missed his performance. Personally, I wasnt too crazy
about Johnny Madsen and his band; they were OK but guess I was way to much focussed
on Bryan to enjoy J.M. Around 9.50 pm Denmark time Bryan and his band finally
want on stage and kicked of the show with There Will Never Be Another Tonight.
At the time of concert, I wasnt at all familiar with the 2004 set lists,
and as a result of that, quite a few songs in the set were a surprise for me (There
Will Never Be Another Tonight, House Arrest, This Time, Straight From The Heart
and Depend On Me). I must say that I enjoyed There Will Never Be Another
Tonight as a set opener, even though it did replace my favourite B.A. song
Here I Am. TNBAT really got the crowd TOALLY up
and running.
Next surprise of the night came when Bryan wanted to know if Keith was capable
of drinking a whole beer without stopping. Keith declined and Bryan looked at
him with disappointment in his eyes, but then the young Canadian behind the keyboards
(Gary Briett) put his hand in the air and claimed that he was capable of drinking
a whole beer without stopping. Bryan told him to come forward right now,
I wanna see you do it! Gary began to drink but unfortunately he had to give
up halfway through the beer. (To cold, to strong Gary???) When realizing that
Gary was unable to finish the beer, the crowd BUUUUHHHed of him, til
Bryan said, Ill bet I can find a Danish woman that can drink
better than you! (How about that Gary?) and so he did. On stage came the
Danish girl Dorthe and she was, unlike Gary, capable of drinking an entire beer
without stopping. After the beers, the band continued the concert with Its
Only Love and (EID)IDIFY. The When Youre Gone
girl was quite funny. Bryan asked if she wanted to become a singer, and she declined.
Bryan was, not surprisingly, surprised and tried to convince her: Its
not a bad job! After, as usual, very powerfull versions of TOTTLGOMIY,
Cloud # 9 and Run To You followed.

Next
big surprises of the night was This Time along with Straight
From The Heart and Depend On Me. All were very good. Last two
mentioned sounded really cool, with B_A going solo on his acustic guitar. As for
This Time I have now, 22th. September 2004, found out that it was
a treat for the Danish fans as it wasnt performed in either Bergen, Stavanger,
Skive (the gig the day after this one) or Hull. The song closing the show
was The Best of Me with Bryan coming of stage to take pictures of
himself together with his fans. A very memorable concert (my fave so far) which
I actually succeeded in bootlegging!
