05/02/05 - BIZCAIA ARENA, BILBAO

Review by Lizy:
We (me, Claire & Colin) arrived at the arena at around 8am. We thought we were first but it turned out there were four Spanish BAddies in front of us. We had realised how cold it was so we stole (sorry borrowed!) blankets from the hotel...just as well we did! It was freezing! So we hunkered up for the long hawl and Colin went to find coffee. Then I spotted Alex making a beeline for me (guess the pink gave it away!) so we then spent a half hour rabbiting away and celebrating each others bdays and just general madness! Cucky and SilkeG were there too! Then Cucky and Alex went to check in and Silke stayed in the company of the mad BAddies! Much fun all day in the queues and numbering was oh so important! And worked very well! We had lots of pink (of course) Champagne and sweet cakes during the course of the day and generally all was going well. Until me and Claire got back from dropping the BORROWED blankets back at the hotel! We didn't have tickets in our hands...well you've heard the rest!!! Yes I was bawling like a baby! It was a special day for me!!! (think I may have got a teeny bit of a sympathy vote from the arena staff tho..... :) )

Anyway we eventually got into the building and had the run from hell! When we all got on the barrier I finally started to relax! And I am making no comment about the support act except that I missed Jill And Carlos!!!

Then Bryan and the guys came on! OMG I had sooo been looking forward to it and they did not disappoint! It was amazing!!! As they launched into 18 Til I Die, I held up my banner and Keith mouthed Happy Birthday at me and gave me the most gorgeous smile!!! :)))

Then the rest of the gig was the best...the crowd were one of the best but never really got the Back To You 'bounce' or the Cloud#9 'sway'. (very good 'ole ole' tho!)
Heaven..... WOW!!! The best version aside from Wembley '96 I've heard I think! I was in tears again by the end of that! And Nowhere Fast was unexpected but absolutely brilliant! Loved it!!! The WYG girl was good and the crowd was outstanding! Then the encore saw Colin grab Mickey's drumstick and Keith flicked his plec at me! Collection complete!!! Bryan and the guys were on top form all night and it was among my top 3 faves for sure!! It was worth all the effort and hassle! And I would go again! I have the non UK gigging bug!! Roll on Germany aye Claire?!!
