06/03/05 - POETS CORNER
WINERY, MUDGEE, NSW Bryan
heads to Mudgee, New South Wales for the 2nd of 2 outdoor gigs in Australia. Vanessa
Amorosi comes onstages with him to duet with Bryan on 'It's Only Love' and she
was apparently pretty good. Bryan messed up though and called her Vanessa Amoroso!!!
Matt who attended the show got the setlist for us and thought the gig had ended
but as he was walking out he heard BA start to sing something else but he couldn't
make it out. One would think he ended with 'Straight From The Heart' as he usually
goes out on an acoustic number... but with the rare 'Tonight' in the encores he
could have mixed things up a bit who knows. Remember he ditched the typical 4
song acoustic encore in Perth so he may have done it for this show as well...
anyone with a full setlist feel free to send it in! Review
by Delia: Another long drive from the Hunter Valley to the town of Mudgee.
It was a brilliant sunny day and we were all very keen to get to the gig for our
front row seats (yeah!). After numerous u turns around the town we remember that
we had a baddie following us!! Whooopsie!! We had forgotten to tell her we were
looking for the accom!! Would have been great if we remembered where it was!!!
Doh!!! After we got all four of us through the shower we were off to join the
crowds at the winery. It was bizarre to have such perfect and hot weather after
the wet day before
ahhhhh This Side of Paradise. We
arrived just as Casey Barnes started his set. He was great and not too bad on
the eyes either (see Delias pix). We felt bad about arriving late espec
as we were in front row!! However, we made up with clapping and cheering. He appreciated
our enthusiasm!! Vanessa Amorossi was also onstage
once again and this time she played slightly longer too. So here we were Right
Back Where We Started from
. Bryan was onstage quite early tonight, so not
only were we treated to another outdoor gig, but seeing Bryan in day light was
a new experience for us ! The show itself was, as usual GREAT!! The WYG girl wasnt
too bad, knew the words and could sing. We later discovered she was the support
acts girlfriend!! She did get booed though as she was not local. Bryan also had
Vanessa join him on stage for Its Only Love which was probably the highlight
of the evening!!! Vanessa really has a brilliant voice!! I think everyone was
impressed!! I believe that she had not heard the song at all and did it purely
from words rehearsed with her earlier!!! Well done!!! Later into the gig, apparently
the barrier between the seated area and general admission area was removed and
unfortunately a few who had had too many made their way to the front and the crowd
started to get a bit rough. Not sure if this is why Bryan didnt come down
to the barrier for The Best of Me and also cut the 4 acoustic songs completely
from this gig. This was really disappointing, but I guess many didnt know
what theyd missed. Despite this there were
a few humorous moments, particularly as there seemed to be a lot of underwear
onstage during this gig. Someone threw a thong (g-string) onstage. Somehow Keith
ended up with it on the end of his guitar, he seemed to have trouble removing
them, but eventually flicked them Mickeys way where they landed on the drums.
Mickey flicked them to the back of the stage with his sticks
with a look
of disgust!! But later, when the guys did their final bow, Mickey placed them
discretely on Keiths shoulder
using the drum sticks
and laughing
himself silly
. when Keith bowed and he saw them fall off
the look
on his face was priceless (again see Delias pix). That got a laugh from
everyone. A few bras landed on the stage too!! p.s. the undies were inside
out!!!! yukarama After the gig we bumped into Harry the autogaph hunter, who
wanted to get his thong(flip flops) signed, Darren the security guy (aka muffin
man) went out the back and signed something on them. This seemed to make him happy. Setlist: Room

by Jason Taylor of the Mudgee Guardian: There's only one word to describe Sunday's
A Day on the Green concert: huge! Headlined by one of the music world's true superstars,
Canadian rocker Bryan Adams, the concert is sure to be the biggest ever held in
the Central West. The venue, Poets Corner winery, is looking amazing, with the
new growth of grass certainly matching the green in the concert's title. "It's
certainly a lot bigger in every aspect than previous years," Poets Corner
assistant manager Rose Douglas said. "It's the same stage used for the Carols
in the Domain and is designed for viewing by 30,000 to 40,000 people. "It
took two weeks to build and is three times bigger than previous stages used at
the other A Day on the Green concerts." Adams, famous for global hits such
as Summer of 69, 18 Till I Die and Everything I Do (I Do It For You), has been
performing for well over 20 years and is renowned for his spectacular live shows.
"The ticket sales have been good but there are still some available,"
Poets Corner cellar manager Kevin Burns said. "Like last year, we're expecting
a last-minute rush. "It's all looking good. Everything's coming together." Adams
spoke to the Mudgee Guardian and Gulgong Advertiser before he left Canada for
his Australian tour. Adams said live touring and creating new albums still presents
a challenge but the secret to keeping it fresh is to have regular breaks. "I
try and break up my tours so they don't run into each other. Time at home is as
valuable as time on tour." Adams said he has no favourites in the huge range
of songs he has to choose from. "It's always great to play a new song, especially
if it's a good live one. As far as faves go, it's really hard to pinpoint one
particular song. Each one sort of serves a purpose, but you're right it's great
to have so many songs to choose from." Adams also said he has been coming
to Australia for 20 years. "I think about the first time I was there and
how much it's changed. I was the support band for The Police in 1984 and we played
an open air festival in Melbourne," he said. Casey Barnes and Vanessa Amorosi
will support Bryan Adams on the Day On The Green. Tickets range in price from
$93.50 to $159.50 and are available from Mudgee Bookcase 6372 3127, Functions
Outwest (02) 6882 5151, or www.ticketmaster7.com or, because it is a Sunday concert,
at the gate on the day. Food and drink stalls will be operating and children under
12 will be admitted free into the General Admission area only. Prohibited items
include no BYO alcohol, no glass and no umbrellas. ********** | | |
