01/04/05 - EISHALLE, KAPFENBERG

Review by Andrea Hartley:
Yesterday in Kapfenberg one of the tour truck drivers/technicians died of a heart attack while helping to prepare for the gig in the evening. Apparently he was only 53. Whoever he was, and whatever his name, R.I.P!!!

This must have been a shock for BA and the band, and all the other people involved. Despite this sad event, BA and the dudes played like a dream in front of a relatively small audience of approx. 2000. To my ears BA's guitar never sounded better. That Moon guitar (not to forget the Fishman Matrix pickups, lol) and BA go really well together, in fact they must have hit it off immediately. Am extremely pleased that "I'm ready" is back on the setlist, wow, it did sound magnificient! Judging from what I experienced yesterday, I think the "Stripped" album (working title or not) will be an absolute treat and a must have!!!

Also good to see "Somebody" back on the setlist (well, it's one of my favourites ;)). The WYG girl, Pamela, a local from Leoben, was very ENTHUSIASTIC indeed; she (or BA) had more of their fair share of "butt bumping". LOL.

Bryan said a few words to Cucky (the Spanish girl, seen at many gigs), thanking her for sort of "accompanying" them since the gigs in Spain, and asked Keith to play a tune on the Spanish guitar especially for her, which he accomplished with bravado!!! In fact, both Bryan and Keith have hit it off with their new guitars - these are certainly great instruments, guys!

My Meet & Greet did in fact materialize. No gory details, I'm pleased to say. It was short and sweet and I've now got 2 signed CD sleeves. There were 8 or 9 people who met Bryan, we had to stand in a row and move forward and await our 2 minute(at the most) turn. Last year's Salzburg WYG girl also had won a M & G and I spent some time chatting to her. Might post a picture at a later stage. The best bit was that we were allowed to remain backstage while BA and the dudes got ready for their appearance. Keith recognized Michaela, the Salzburg WYG girl, and while they were chatting, I took their picture. Keith seems to be really, really nice, that's all I can say! Eyes full of mischief ...

Oh, nearly forgot, met Ruth, Chris, Jason and Oliver the night before the gig here in Vienna, and again at Kapfenberg. Thanks guys, great to meet you in the flesh after so many virtual encounters!
