14/05/05 - SECC, GLASGOW

Review by Chelsey Evans:
Yesterday was fantastic. I arrived at 10am and was number 15 in the queue. The security at the venue were fantastic and arranged to let the first 70 or so BADDIES in before everyone else. The time passed pretty quickly, everyone got a bit restless at points but generally it was cool.

Managed to get barrier for the first time, mind you, only my 2nd BA gig so I'm doing not bad! Keith Urban was good at getting everyone going and had a few catchy tunes (aswell as being very good looking!). The whole arena was standing and held around 10,000 people.

Around 8.30pm, Bryan and the band came on and everyone went nuts. They launched straight into a great version of 'Room Service' and into 'One Night Love Affair'. We were getting getting loads of interaction with BA and Keith which was fantastic, though Keith kept laughing at us all.

'Can't Stop...' was amazing and really got the whole place bouncing! The next three songs were fantastic as you would expect. 'Summer Of 69' returned to it's usual half acoustic/half electric version which disappointed me. Before singing 'This Time', Bryan said how he'd first came to Scotland in 1983 to promote the 'Cuts Like a Knife' album. This woman in the audience started cheering and BA looked at her and said 'You weren't there... no one was there!' which got a big laugh from the audience.

'Cuts Like A Knife'... well, as usually happens in Scotland, the 'Na na na's' weren't loud enough, so they went on for a good bit before Bryan seemed happy.

(Above) Who says these guys aren't in it for the music?!

Although I tried to get onstage again for 'When You're Gone', Bryan only laughed at me and ended up choosing Louise. Before she got out the crowd, he asked if she was from Glasgow, she said no, so he said as long as you're from Scotland we'll be fine. She was actually very good and had a lot of enthusiasm.

'Heaven' was taken back to the original version with Bryan leaving his guitar on the floor and carrying his mic around the stage. It was strange to see BA minus his guitar!

Lizy's sign which we held up said 'Norm, give us a wiggle', and he did. So did Keith and then BA... then the 10,000 other people in the hall. 'C'mon! Let me see a Scottish wiggle!'

Keith's solos during 'It's Only Love' were mind blowing and he was running around the stage. The guys all seemed to be in a very good mood and there was a lot of good banter between themselves and with the audience.

'There Will Never Be Another Tonight' absolutely tore the house down... I mean properly, everyone went nuts for it and BA noticed. He was smiling all the way through the gig which was fantastic.

'Cloud 9' was played without the guitar intro which Keith usually plays, and sounded more like the album version. 'Run To You' - perfect as ever. The boys leave the stage, and Bryan returns for a fantastic acoustic set.

I have been told that during 'All For Love' and 'Straight From The Heart' my face was on the big screen a lot. During the acoustic songs, we were getting loads of eye contact with Bryan and he was winking at us. The harmonica on 'Straight From The Heart' was amazing and really added something to the song. It's nice to see BA trying new arrangements of old songs.

The show ended with an excellent acoustic version of 'Room Service' and the whole crowd knew the words. Bryan thanked us for coming and said he'd had a fantastic night.

So then a group of us split up and went in search of posters, t-shirts and toilets. We met up again round the back of the hall, hoping to catch a glimpse of the boys. Everyone came out! Mickey was first, but we had to leg it to catch him and we were behind a fence so we all passed our tickets etc through the holes in the bars. Gary and Norm came out next, and Keith wasn't far behind them. When he came out, I started singing 'It ain't easy baby, it's only Keith!' which he thought was quite amusing. He signed my ticket, and said 'I saw you and your friend tonight... you guys rocked!' which was the biggest compliment ever! I asked him to come and play in my back garden and he said he'd do it as long as Bryan was there! He said BA was still around, so we waited and he finally appeared. He signed something for everyone and I managed to have a quick chat during the course of which: he said he didn't wear underwear, that because I pointed out we were wearing the same shoes, we're 'trainer buddies', he would come and play my back garden as long as Keith was going and he even signed my t-shirt... right on the boob! Fantastic - and the perfect end to an absolutely excellent day.

Just wanna say cheers to Lizy, Claire, Jackie, Chris and all the other BADDIES who looked after me in Glasgow!
