01/06/05 - PGE PARK, PORTLAND, OR

Bryan starts the co-headliner tour with Def Leppard in Portland, Oregan. He plays PGE Park, which is home to the Portland Beavers. Because this tour is a co-headliner... both acts have to reduce the amount of stage time and cuts short their setlists. Bryan still plays for a solid 90 minutes though and doesn't disapoint, he plays most of the hits plus a couple of new songs. Most are rockers and there are 6 songs from the 'Reckless' album. 'Open Road' is dropped and isn't played for the first time since BA started playing it last August. 'Run To You' makes a surprise 2nd slot appearence straight after 'Room Service'. I guess this was done to get the crowd up and rocking asap as it's one of BA's biggest and familiar rockers in the states. 'This Side Of Paradise' is the only other new song played... which makes sense as it's the current single. This means only 2 songs in the encore after 'The Only Thing' (which closes the mainset)... 'There Will Never Be Another Tonight' followed by an acoustic 'Straight From The Heart'. Bryan seemed to have gone down well with the Def Leppard fans.

Review by Sharoney (Def fan):
It was totally awesome!!! The rain held off until we were on our way home. It was perfect weather. They only played for approx 90 minutes, but they really rocked. They looked great. It was kind of hard to hear them because the audience sang along to every song.
While I like Bryan Adams and even have an album or two, I am not a huge fan. DL is of course my favourite band. He played the most popular hits and there was a song that I am not familiar with that he asked the audience if anyone knew the words to. He picked a young lady from the audience, she was about 22 or 23, and she went up on stage and sang the song with him. She did a really good job. He gave her and her boyfriend some t-shirts. Bryan played for about 90 minutes also.
There was an opening act, who of course, I have never heard of before. I think his name was Randy Coleman. He played the acoustic guitar and sang a few songs.

Review by Mark (Def fan):
Def played it pretty safe with the setlist. Joe said they hadn't played 'Have You Ever Needed Someone So Bad' in 12 years. He also commented when introducing 'Rock Of Ages', something like "I never thought I'd be introducing this next song as the title track from our new album." Very comfortable evening for a show - no rain or wind. I ended up dead center with 2 people infront of me. Estimated 10,000+ crowd. Take that for what it is worth. Bigger crowd than I expected. Bryan Adams went down well I thought. Sounded good - all the hits.

Huge thanks to Darren for the info and setlist. Mark from Portland took the photos.

BA gets the crowd going during 'Run To You'

The WYGG with Bryan... behind the stage you can see what I believe is a video screen/banner with the 'Room Service' guitar on.

Portland's PGE Park... the start of the tour for BA and Def

BA/Def have a support act that plays a short acoustic set before they come on. He will be at all shows except Dayton, OH. His name is Randy Coleman and you can listen to him at his website go>

For this show BA came on first followed by Def.
