11/06/05 - PROMO: BORDERS
BOOKS, DALLAS, TX Review
by Teresa: It started when my sister (baddie Alicja), our friend Margarette,
and I had a last minute opportunity to go see Bryan at his book signing in Dallas.
We knew it was going to be an experience after we found two of Bryans songs
on the stations on the plane; moreover, the feature film on our flight was Racing
Stripes! (Highly recommend to everyone, the story line was touching and
the dialogue was hysterical). We arrived at Borders
a bit after 11am to find about 12 people on line already. What a pleasure to meet
up with fellow baddie Nancy, who was right in front of us. We had a few laughs
while waiting, listening to only BA playing in the store, bringing back some memories
from our past experiences, and I even helped straighten out the books on the shelves
lol Right
before Bryan came in, we were interviewed by the morning crew from one of the
radio stations, who had interviewed BA a few days before. They were very impressed
by Bryan and were overwhelmed by the people who traveled to the book signing.
There were people from San Antonio, Houston, New York :) , San Francisco
.
So,
Bryan finally comes in and takes some photos with some Vips and then sat
at the table. (This is one of the areas the DJs were impressed with when
we spoke to them. They mentioned that he is very professional and such a down
to earth person when dealing with people from the industry). After a few signings,
they switched his table from a big rectangular one to a small round one. Dont
know why, but it definitely gave us the opportunity to cuddle up to him for pics
{sigh}. During the switcharoo process, BA did a little shake your booty dance
for us. He seemed well rested, in a good mood and all smiles :) Jody was there
as well, who smiled and gave us a wave while we were on line. It
was so sweet to hear Bryan say that he remembers Nancy and actually got up to
take a pic with her, where the staff told us that Bryan was not going to pose
for photos. (Nancy please email me your email address so I can fwd you the pic
it never hurts to have one more). Now it was our turn
the
THREE TROUBLES as BA put it, hahaha. Bryan was very sweet and took
his time. He pulled each one of us separately to take a photo with him and we
chit -chatted a bit. Half the conversation I dont remember as I was psyched.
I do remember asking him if they celebrated Mickeys b-day, he said of
course. The tour was mentioned where he said it is going very well. Alicja
had a book as well for a baddie in Poland who asked Alicja to get it signed for
her. That is when Alicja told him that the Polish fans are anxiously waiting for
a gig there since its been a while. So I said yeah and Ill go
see you there too. Bryan surprised, stopped what he was doing and responded
really! So you can be my personal translator? and I was like hell
yeah!!! | (Left)
The queue to see Bryan reaches down the stairs and 'round the corner! We
thanked him and that was it. Margarette thanked him in Polish and Bryan said something
in a different language, but we all missed what he said (could he know a few words
in Polish?). We hung out a bit to observe Bryan and the crowd. You could tell
that Bryan was relaxed a bit more later on. Poor guy was probably nervous at first
(dont worry Bryan, we were nervous too). There were about 150 peeps. When
we were leaving they closed off the line, which was about 2:40pm. |
I
must say that it was well organized which lead for the whole process to go by
very smooth. The staff and DJs were very pleasant and helpful there
even was a lady taking pics for everyone from their cameras. One of the Borders
book signing organizer (really nice guy) offered us 3 tickets to the show that
evening, but we couldnt go :( It was very, very tempting, but we were happy
to just have made the book signing. We didnt wait til the end, cause
there was still a pretty long line and we had a flight to catch, plus we didnt
want to cause any more trouble (wink, wink). Teresa
