07/03/06 - KIRSTENBOSCH GARDENS, CAPE TOWN

Review by Val:
My friend Lauren with me today – Lauren also attended with me one of the shows in 2003.

This was a good crowd at the gig. It was the first of the three shows that went on sale originally so the really die hard fans here and during The Best of Me when he comes right up to the front, my “you know what’s” were pushed into pancakes and my chest was closing, I had difficulty breathing – the surge and push was so strong. Here is when I managed the hug and a feel of the tummy (over the t shirt, not under!) – mentioned in an earlier post.

Bryan again was prompt – walked on just perhaps a minute after 8 pm.

Weather again was superb – dropped to about 30 celcius and again the evening was calm and warm.

The crowd tonight were on a roll – Bryan mentioned to us about the crowd the night before and asked if we were going to beat them or something like that.

WYG girl. This is a bit of a blur for me. She left the least impression of the 3 nights – can’t remember her name, studies Business Science at Uni, of course B commented on that but don’t remember what it was. She got the bum thing and turning around right though.

Bryan didn’t sing Room Service and Kids Wanna Rock from the night before but the crowd would have been none the wiser.

Bunch of roses thrown – Bryan caught it and took it to the side of the stage.

Comments made by Bryan tonight. He mocked ever so nicely the typical South African sayings such as “Is it” and “Howzit”. He mentioned the lovely weather again and about a call he made or received from home (up in the frozen north, he says) and how good it was to say to them how hot it was here. He said something about getting up Wednesday morning at 06h00 – did anyone have suggestions about what he should do in CT for tomorrow (Wed) and anyone willing to show him around (screams and yells from the crowd), at this stage he carried on talking but again another time when I could not hear him, the crowd noise in my ears deafening. Before singing EIDIDIFY he mentioned some odd name of a guy from Zambia & did we know him? Audience here – no response – then he mentioned his collaboration with him on EIDIDIFY. It turned out of course he was joking about Mutt (RJ) Lange – I knew he grew up in S.Africa and left S.A. only after producing some S.African artists – maybe he was born in Zambia or like the ‘’Bat-Feet” girl, Bryan was just doing the silly talk.

Show finished again at 10 pm.
