23/09/06 - HOVET, STOCKHOLM

Sadly, 'Inside Out' isn't played for this show like it was the previous night in Karlstad.

Review by Nat Whitehead:
This was my first international BA gig so was a very special little adventure for me and, although only a 2 night stint in Stockholm, we crammed in loads and saw lots of the city which I have to say was one of the nicest, friendliest and cleanest places I’ve been to ( especially as even the road sweepers spoke English – thank gawd!!)

Having got merry on vodka in the icebar the night before the gig and having traulled the highstreets and old town ( nicking BA posters wherever possible lol), it was time to don on the BA shirt (which I swore I’d never do lol), and take the tube to Globen to pick up our tickets. We found ourselves there at 3 pm so decided to suss out the queue situation. There were 2 entrances, our entrance (11) had all of 15 or so peeps there which somewhat left me speechless, so we grabbed some grub and went straight back and positioned ourselves in front of a turnstile. By sheer accident, people were moved away from one turnstile which wasn’t going to be used, to behind us, so we found ourselves only 6th inline which wasn’t half bad seeing as we were half hearted over whether to bother queuing early or not!

With just over 3 hours to kill and with no other English peeps to natter to, it was a waiting game, so I text some waffle to Ade and listened to GGD’s on my iPod. The only entertainment we had was some Geordies selling unofficial BA tour shirts with the June & July UK dates on the back which amused us greatly as everyone was snapping them up before realising lol

Our 4 turnstiles opened at 6.30 and we charged in and I found the barrier just in front of Keith. All the peeps queuing at the other entrance were all rightly hacked off as they were only filtered in through 2 turnstiles and, despite appearing to have a numbering system going on, didn’t prove much cop as we had the advantage ( although most got barrier and predominantly the front row was English lol)

Bryan was due on at 8.30 and with 5 minutes to go I thought Gary must have been given the sack as no keyboards were on stage!. All of a sudden every available roadie rushed the gear on in a moment of panic which delayed the start by 5 mins or so – tut tut!!

Bryan came out to Room Service. The opening few bars was a different arrangement to any live version I’ve heard before and if I hadn’t have already known from previous nights setlists that RS was the opener I would have been left guessing as to what track it was!! – Nice to hear something slightly different I guess but not the impact RS has had from the 05 tour imo.

The setlist was very samey with no surprises thrown in but, having said which, Lowlife was good to hear again live and I never get tired of hearing summer of 69, Hearts on Fire, Run to you and Back to you. Great crowd participation, back to you bounce and singing in all the right places although no banners from what I could see which seemed unusual!

Bryan and keith were on top form with each other, always great to see such good chemistry, I caught a few of those moments on vid which I’ve Youtubed and linked in.

Bryan and the K-man havin' fun during 'Hearts On Fire':

BA and Keith rockin' out during 'Run To You':

All in all another great performance by all and special for me being at the barrier finally for the first time oh and how can I forget – I got Mickeys drumstick when he through it into the crowd!
