04/01/06 - 'GOLDEN GLOBE' PROMO FOR 'BOBBY', MIAMI, FL

First working day of the year for Bryan and he's in Miami to give interviews to nearly every channel across the country and beyond about his Golden Globe nomination for 'Bobby'. He was interview on CTV during 'Canada AM' and also on CW31 which is a news station in Sacramento California. Below is the transcript from the video which I've done for posterity... do not put this online anywhere else.

**********

CW31: He has a Golden Globe Nomination for 'best original song' for 'Never Gonna Break My Faith' from the movie 'Bobby' which is phenomenal.

Yeah 3 time Oscar and 4 time Golden Globe nominee Bryan Adams joins us live this morning, good morning to you!

BA: Good morning! Good morning!

CW31: How ya doin?

BA: Yeah I'm good!

CW31: Good congratulations on the awards, of all the song you have written I think that everybody could probably name at least 5 songs that you've done.

BA: Oh thats very nice thanks. You know you were talking about grey this morning I release I'm wearing grey I'm sorry about that!

CW31: Yeah you blend with the Sacramento skyline. Hey congratulations on all your success...hey you rose to fame in the 80's about the time that Emilio Estevez your director rose to fame. Did you know him before this project?

BA: Yeah I did infact I met Emilio after we finished working on the picture, infact we hadn't spoken about 'Bobby' at all and I got a phonecall and he said "hey Bryan do you remember meeting?" and I said "I do remember - we met in a Mexican restaurant in Vancouver!"

CW31: Hahaha the great North not really known for it's Mexican food though!

BA: Not known for Mexican food but you know it's funny because I love Mexican food and I had fajitas too so we were there. We hadn't spoken to each other for at least 20 years, so the next time we met was on this picture which I've written the theme song for. So pretty nice!

CW31: Not your first time working on a feature film but what did you use for inspiration to get this?...and also the films set in the 60's so did you use 60's music at all for inspiration?

BA: Well the soundtrack is predominantly 60's, the only original song from now is the theme song - the song we've written called 'Never Gonna Break My Faith'. The connection to the 60's with this song would be that Aretha Franklin is singing it and it's a duet with Mary J Blige. The song is basically a gospel song, as a songwriter it was a real challenge to write a song about an assination. So the way I went around that was to try and write a song about inner strength and faith and so you'll have to hear the song!

CW31: You know we were talking about you've had a very successful career, you started at a young age... 15... and I read here in your bio that at 17 you signed a contract for one dollar so they basically said "so there's no guarantee that you are gonna be successful!"

BA: No exactly what are you gonna do with a dollar?!

CW31: It goes further in Canada!

BA: Yeah well it's about 75 cents! So yeah... back when you were 17 you'd do pretty much anything to get ahead, especially when you were a struggling musician. So I was happy for the dollar.

CW31: So you said I'll take it!

*BA nods head*

CW31: Does it bug you when you get stuck on flights and some yayhoo starts singing your songs to ya? "I got my first real six string!!!!!"

BA: Hahahaha

CW31: Wanna smack him?

BA: Don't laugh! Listen don't laugh, yesterday I was on a plane coming back... I'm in Miami right now... and the stewardess says, she goes..."can I just talk to you for a second?" I say "sure" and she goes "do you remember this?"... and she goes into her purse and she pulls out a picture of like me and she was a flight attendant then and me like.... ya know!!! (does an impression of him with his arm around her smiling and posing for a photo!!! ...see picture below!)

CW31: Yeah! Not lets talk about that... do you look back at the videos you made in the 80's and go "wow I wish I wouldn't had my jeans quite so tight!" or...

BA: No no no you know what I don't look at my videos, I don't like my videos but at least I don't have terrible hair! Ya know!

CW31: Thats true you didn't have the mullet thing goin on did ya?

BA: I didn't go for the mullet so I'm grateful to whoever the great hair god is who said "just keep it short" ya know!

CW31: So when you come across Rick Springfield you can go "haha!"

BA: Hahaha. No I don't laugh at anybody because definately when I see my videos I wanna jump behind the sofa so ya know!...

CW31: Ok well good stuff! Thankyou very much for Bryan Adams joining us this morning... 'Bobby' is the movie and we look forward to seeing that!
Congrats on everything are you touring anytime soon?

BA: I'm actually starting in Mississippi tommorrow and playing erm... I'm going up from Mississippi all the way up to New York and then we're coming up to California to the Golden Globes because the songs been nominated.

CW31: And then come up and hang out with us sometime!

BA: Oh I'd love to thankyou!

CW31: Good to talk to you thanks and congrats!

BA: See ya Mark!
