05/01/07 - BEAU RIVAGE RESORT, BILOXI, MS

Bryan starts the year gigging at the same place he did back in 2004... at the Beau Rivage in Biloxi Mississippi! WYGG for the show was Lianne... check her out in the video above. Bryan ends in style with 'There Will Never Be Another Tonight'... well played Bryan!

Review by Trish:
I was thrilled that Bryan Adams would be returning to the Beau Rivage! My sister and I saw him the last time he played there, and that was such a fantastic evening! In between that show and this one we had seen him in Forth Worth, TX with Def Leppard and in Memphis, TN at the Beale Street Music Festival. But we were ready for an indoor show with only Bryan! And the Beau Rivage is such a nice resort; it has come back from Hurricane Katrina better than ever. Certainly a hopeful sign for the area which was really hit hard by Mother Nature.

When we were taking our bags up to our room who do we pass getting off the elevator as we were getting on? Only Keith Scott all by himself! He looked sort of tired. Like maybe he had just woken up from a nap. We just said a quick hello and that we couldn’t wait for the show. It was so quick he didn’t even have time to respond before the doors shut. It was funny to us, and we laughed after the doors shut because we couldn’t believe it. What are the odds?

So then it’s showtime. And of course it was great! After the first three songs Bryan said good evening and that they weren’t sure that this place was gonna still be here. He said they thought it was a new place because of the hurricane, but that they were glad to see that it’s still standing, which got cheers from the audience. He also teased the audience by saying that they were going to play an abbreviated show tonight because they had been told that everyone wanted to go gamble. The audience let Bryan know that that wasn’t true to which he replied, “Well you took a gamble coming to see me tonight.” Oh Bryan you’re so full of it!

Well we in the audience were all winners this night because Bryan and the guys put on a really great, energetic show. It seemed like they tried to put a little something extra into their performances because of what the area has been through. It took a few songs for the crowd to warm up, but then everyone seemed really into it, and very appreciative. At one point Bryan said to bring up the lights so he could look at the audience. He asked where everyone was from, whether they were from Biloxi or from out of state. It seemed like there were more than a few people who had come from out of state to see the show. Anyway, by the time he broke into “Summer of ‘69” most people were up on their feet and cheering and singing along. That was really great to see everyone so into the music!

And it must be said what a fine performance Keith Scott gave. He really was on fire this night! Lots of interaction between him and those down front too. People around me were just in awe at how great he was. I thoroughly enjoyed him on the Spanish guitar on“Have You Ever Really Loved A Woman.” It was one of the highlights of the show for me. Such beautiful guitar-playing. We felt so lucky to get to hear that one live. And it goes without saying how fantastic he is on “It’s Only Love”. The crowd was just blown away by him on that one. He was like a madman on the guitar the way he tore it up! He must have had a good nap!

Here’s a funny little incident: Right before Bryan began to sing “Cuts Like A Knife” he had them bring up the lights so he could look at the audience. Apparently there was a man down front right below Bryan’s mike who must have been there with a much younger woman. And maybe they had been getting frisky with their dancing or something because Bryan remarked to the man, “Nice to see you here sir with your daughter.” Everyone laughed. Bryan can be a real smartass can’t he? Anyway I never tire of that one either. Such a great song. Keith Scott tore it up as usual on this one too! Great drumming from Micky too! And the audience did a great job with the nah-nahs too. We had much gusto by the end of it. Bryan applauded us at the end and looked pleased with how it had gone.

The WYGG was Leanne (sorry if I mis-spelled her name) from Long Beach, MS which she explained to Bryan is about 20 minutes towards New Orleans. Bryan asked, “Is that where the waffle house sign is?” He asked her what she did and if she could sing. She said she was an accountant and that she could sing, that she used to sing in elementary school. Also that she went to band when she was younger and that she played the clarinet. Bryan turned to Keith, “Keith don’t you blow the clarinet too? Rimshot from Mickey. Everyone laughed. Leanne did a really good job, and the audience gave her a big hand for her efforts. You could tell she was a big fan. She even told Bryan that she had flown to Denver to see him last year. And he thanked her for that. I’m sure it was a big thrill for her to sing with him.

They closed the show with “There will Never Be Another Tonight” which was a huge treat for me because that’s one of my all-time favorites. Loved it!

And finally, when all the guys lined up for their bow at the end of the show some blonde woman somehow got on stage with them and inserted herself between Bryan and one of his bandmembers so she could have her picture snapped by whoever she was with. Wow! That takes nerve! Seems kind of rude to do when they are taking a well-deserved bow, but I guess some people think they are entitled so they just go for it. She had Bryan autograph something she braced against her upper chestal region. Then when he was walking away she was being very clingy and walking after him. We thought he looked sort of annoyed by her, but such is the rockstar life I guess. Poor guy!

Anyway it was another great show from Bryan and his band, well worth the time and effort to travel to see them. The Beau Rivage is such a great place for a getaway and to see a show, and I hope they come back very soon! We’ll certainly try to be there when they do!
