11/05/07 - WEMBLEY ARENA, LONDON

Review by Steven Stanley:
Originally I had every intention of queuing for this 2nd show at Wembley... however the dicks at Wembley decided to dish out numbered wrist bands for this Friday night show, BEFORE THE THURSDAY NIGHT SHOW HAD EVEN STARTED. Surely the biggest joke ever to take place in the whole queuing system ever. All was not lost however... we'd all been front row at Wembley a few times before so we decided to leave Wembley and enjoy a day out seeing the sights in London! We went to the Houses Of Parliament, Big Ben, The London Eye, Leicester Square, Picadilly Circus, Oxford Street, Carnaby Street, Chelsea, Buckingham Palace, Mayfair, Harrods and Trafalgar Square among other places...

...Far better than sitting in a queue all day! To top things off when we got in... I got 2nd row b-stage with Nikki & Jim... now thats how to gig! Nikki and Jim are great people too... great fun to be with!

Setlist was a disapointment to say he was in the same venue the night before... only adding 'This Time' to the proceedings... still its a kickass set anyway and normally I would be complaining... but the show on this tour he puts on you just can't argue with. Best part of the night was when he played 'There's Gonna Be Some Rockin'' and myself and Mave were bouncing non stop.

It's great to see the b-stage back and I was appreciating it all the more tonight as I would be going for front row centre at Sheffield and who knows when they might pull the b-stage from use.

All in all the Wembley shows were ok... but the whole queuing system and atmosphere meant I couldn't wait to get up to Sheffield. I have far better memories from '04 when he played 'Friday Night In London' and other 'Reckless' classics and when we got into the place the old fashioned way. A certain gig up North the next day was kickass, and boy was I glad to be a part of that one!...

Toe getting offstage after taking a bow just before BA closes the show. BA thanked Jody, Toe and all the other crew members for helping him over the years as he remembered all the great Wembley shows

Myself, Nat, Karen & Mave all outside the doors at 3am proving a point. If we'd have stayed there in the queue we would have got in 40 or 50 people down the line as an elect few from the Thursday night gig got numbered and didn't bother coming on Friday while way later in the day. What a joke... fair play to the peeps though, I'd have done the same... although my attitude would have been better than some of them, thats the only thing that bugs me

Couldn't help taking another picture of the awesome new Wembley Stadium... on the day the Bobby Moore statue was unveiled infront of the remaining '66 World Cup Winners and Prime Minister Tony Blair. All this was going on a minutes walk from the queue... nice to witness another moment of history!
