BA's new photo book to be in stores May '05 - In November 2003, the musician and photographer Bryan Adams began photographing a cross section of influential American women dressed in new and vintage Calvin Klein. Shot mainly in New York and Los Angeles throughout 2004, American Women is a tribute to the beauty, strength, and character of American women.

Hillary Rodham Clinton, Katie Couric, Jennifer Aniston, Gwyneth Paltrow, Scarlett Johansson, Hilary Swank, Serena Williams, Venus Williams, Lindsay Lohan, Christie Brinkley, Sarah Jessica Parker, Eartha Kitt, Aerin Lauder, Marlo Thomas, Nan Kempner, Paula Zahn, Cindy Crawford, Alice Sebold, Amber Valletta, Katie Holmes, Eve Ensler, and Lauren Hutton are just a few of the women Adams selected from among America's most notable actors, journalists, musicians, artists, businesswomen, athletes, and philanthropists, all lovingly and glamorously captured by the camera of a rising star in the field. The only binding theme being that they are American women known for excelling in their field.

Produced in close collaboration with the Calvin Klein company, American Women is Adams' third book of important women. His first, Made in Canada (Key Porter, 1999), benefited the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation and featured influential Canadian women such as Linda Evangelista, k.d. lang, Shania Twain, and Pamela Anderson. Based on its success, he published a second book, Haven (Trebruk, 2000), in the U.K. Benefiting the Haven Trust, a breast cancer support center in London, the book raised a considerable sum for the charity and received widespread press. For that book, Bryan photographed HRH Queen Elizabeth II, the Duchess of York, Vanessa Redgrave, Elizabeth Hurley, Kate Moss, Julie Christie, Joan Collins, and forty other influential British women. Proceeds from American Women will benefit the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in support of their ongoing breast cancer research programs. source: ba.com

'Open Road' makes live debut - yes that right, last night Bryan debuted the song in Holmdel, NJ, USA. It was the 4th song in the set and it went down a storm with the US fans. As the night reached a close Bryan made a comment that made the crowd go absolutely nuts! As he reached the end of his set, he reminded the crowd that he played "Open Road" earlier in the night... He mentioned (in so many words) that there's a general concern of people downloading music without paying for it, etc... But he encouraged the crowd to go on the internet and download the song from where they could find it because, and I quote, "you're not going to fucking hear it on the radio!" Setlist and review online very soon. BIG THANKS To Anthony Mangione

More news on the 'Colour Me Kubrick' soundtrack - The German Filmorchestra Babelsberg has recorded some songs with the Canadian rock star Bryan Adams on Monday in Berlin. Adams has volunteered a week ago after the film orchestra was recommended to him told the director Klaus-Peter Beyer. The 44 years old has made use his German tour for the recording. The recordings were produced in the orchestra’s own studio on the grounds of the former DDR broadcasting. ”In two and an half hours we worked out three titles, it works fantastic”, meant Beyer. Adams sang to the tunes of the 60-headed ensemble. Brian Cook, who leaded the direction of the movie, was an assistant of Stanley Kubricks for “The Shining” and “Eyes Wide Shut” among others. The movie deal of a man who poses as Stanlay Kubrick, the main actor is John Malkovich. source: German press agency

More news - Bryan's new soundtrack will be out before Christmas and he will only be singing 1 or 2 songs on it. The 'Room Service' album is still due out in September with the single in August. Bryan also wants to release his version of 'East Side Story' from the forthcoming album but if he did it wouldn't be the first single because he is choosing between 2 different rock songs for that. source: BA

18tilidie.co.uk featured on BBC Radio - last week Steven, Andrea and Adrian from 18tilidie.co.uk were interviewed by BBC Radio on Bryan Adams. Other fans including Jack Nicholson were also interviewed for the show. The premise of the show was to find the biggest BA fan and generally findout what it's like to be a badfan... all for the run-up to the Hull show at the KC Stadium. It was a good laugh and the show lasts quite a while with of course a few BA tunes played in between including 'Heat Of The Night', 'Kids Wanna Rock', 'Run To You' (live) and 'Summer Of '69'. The show is very tongue in cheek and if you listen will no doubt find it quite funny! You can listen to the show anywhere within the Yorkshire region on your local BBC Radio station at 7pm on Tuesday 22nd June.

The event, which will take place on 24 September, is being held in support of the Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy charity. Miller previously sponsored music magazine NME in 2002. The Fender deal is intended to build on the ‘Its Miller Time’ strapline, which is used in its advertising.” source: Brent/Marketing Magazine

New film soundtrack - Bryan is writing the soundtrack to a new upcoming John Malkovich produced movie.

More album news - just to update you the 'Room Service' album (due for release in September/October) is still planned to be released with the 'acoustic' CD on the same day. It may include 'The Way You Make Me Feel' IF Bryan finds room on the CD. 'East Side Story' is still going to be on the 'Room Service' CD and apparently it's great! He was recently quoted as saying he has so many new songs he doesn't know what to do with them all! The first single from the 'Room Service' album is as yet undecided... Bryan is choosing between 2 songs... both rockers. source: BA

Big rock star stuns small audience - CANADIAN rock star Bryan Adams surprised a small club audience when he turned up unannounced to perform several duets at the Jazz and Blues Café in Maidstone last night. The musician, best known for his 80s and 90s rock ballads, took to the stage at the end of a concert by Nashville-based singer-songwriter Gretchen Peters. The two musicians have penned several songs together. The show was presented by Maidstone Country & Roots Music Club and was part of Peters' latest UK tour. Ciaran O'Quigley, owner of the café and the adjoining Zaffa Mediterranean Restaurant, said that even members of staff had no idea the star was coming, bodyguard in tow. He said: "One of the waiters was going to turn him away because the restaurant was full but he said, 'I'm Bryan Adams and I'm playing in the back.' "He was standing at the bar drinking a tonic water and talking to customers freely. When he got on stage, the crowd were all looking at each other. They all stood up and started clapping." This summer, the music club will be presenting country acts at the venue including Tom Russell, on Bank Holiday Monday, May 31, Beth Nielsen Chapman, BR549, Hot Club of Cowtown, Lambchop's Paul Burch, Heather Myles and guitarist Jackie Leven with Michael Weston King's Decent Men. source: Kent Messenger You can read the full story by going to the show in the gig archive or by clicking here go>

World Idol winner to support BA in Norway - Kurt Neilson, the Norweigen 'World Idol Winner' is getting a stonking £100,000 to support Bryan in Bergen on June 1st at Brann Stadium. If he gets that for supporting Bryan I wonder what Bryan gets! Kurt currently has a single out called 'She's So High'....a shocking cheesy over produced teeny bopper cover of the Tal Bachman classic who also once supported BA back in the fall tour of '99.

New CD maybe closer than we think - on the morning of April 9th 2004 the first copy of the new album 'Room Service' was burned onto a CD by Bryan's friend Ben on his laptop in Milan, Italy. Thanks to Roberta (who it was very lovely meeting in Milan) for this information. Also BA said in chat recently that a single/new material maybe yet out in May BUT NOTHING IS CONFIRMED.

Adams mania! - Bryan Adams mania has hit the Britannia Stadium after last weekend’s announcement that the “Groover from Vancouver” will be performing one of only two UK live concerts in Stoke-on-Trent on Sunday June 27. Fans inundated the 24-hour hotline numbers, websites and the stadium box office resulting in 6,000 tickets being sold within a few hours of going on sale. But, unfortunately due to the pressure on the phone lines, and website, the system suffered from meltdown and thousands of fans were left with just a ringing tone and unable to get through. Unfounded rumours of a total sell-out soon started circulating. Britannia Stadium Events Manager Ben Hallam has now cleared up the situation. He says: “We are delighted with the response from fans and we thank them for their patience. Now that both the 24-hour hotline number and the stadium Box Office are fully operational again customers should find it much easier to get a ticket before they all go. They are selling extremely fast and it is first come first served” Fans are reminded that tickets are available by personal visit to the Britannia Stadium (see Easter opening times below) and the Stoke City Shop in Hanley, the 24 hour ticket line 0115 912 9000 or via www.wayahead.com

Album update - Bryan once again chatted late Monday night and said the album release date was now looking like August but was in the final mixing stage this week with Bob Clearmountain. He expects a single out in June. Also he is still planning the release of the acoustic cd in line with the album. The acoustic CD may contain as many as 20 songs, some we have heard before some we haven't as he said last week in chat. source: bryanadams.com

Fans go wild for rock gig tickets - Tickets for Bryan Adams' summer concert in the city are being snapped up at the rate of about 1,000 an hour. During the first seven hours that tickets went on sale, more than 6,500 were booked. Tickets went on the market yesterday at 9am. The Canadian rocker has chosen Hull as the only UK venue on his world tour. He will be appearing at the Kingston Communications Stadium on Saturday, June 26. The mammoth world tour will see him taking in cities across the US, Denmark, Italy and Germany. Frustrated fans spent the day jamming the hotline and logging on to the Internet to book. Many callers were greeted by an automated message telling them "there is currently a high demand for this destination, please call again later". However, event organisers are urging people to be patient and keep trying. Stadium marketing manager Rob Smith said: "We have been staggered by the public response for tickets during the first day of sales. "They have far exceeded our expectations and it looks like it is going to be the success we anticipated." He added he thought the success was due to the wide range of age groups the star's music appeals to. "His career spans over 20 years and that will attract a wide spectrum of people," he said. "You don't have to be a massive fan or own all his albums to appreciate it will be a good show. "The sales will hopefully prove the stadium was right to want to host a rock concert." Adams began his career in the late 70s, but it wasn't until the mid 80s - and an appearance at Live Aid - that his international following began to grow. He is probably best known for the 1991 hit Everything I Do, I Do It For You which was the soundtrack to the film Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves. It topped the UK charts for a record-breaking 16 weeks. source: thisishull.co.uk

Bryan Adams concert sparks massive interest: - Stadium phones were jammed by Bryan Adams fans - 24 hours before tickets went on sale for the rock star's Hull gig. The first tickets for the Canadian rocker's concert at the Kingston Communications Stadium on June 26 went on sale today. It is expected to attract a 25,000 sell-out crowd as the Hull concert is Adams' only UK date on his latest world tour. And today stadium officials said they were overwhelmed by the public's response after revealing details of the concert for the first time yesterday. Stadium marketing manager Rob Smith said: "Already, the response from the public has been phenomenal. "People have been nothing short of desperate to not miss out. "Our main switchboard was jammed yesterday with people calling in to book tickets. "They knew they didn't go on sale until today, but they were still pleading with us to sell them tickets." Adams has embarked on a world tour which will take him across the US to New York, Las Vegas and Los Angeles, before heading to Europe. Ticket prices for the Hull show start at £27.50. To book, call the hotline on 08700 117 900 or log on to the website www.ticketzone.co.uk. Tickets can be booked in person from the KC Stadium from Monday. Event organisers are advising people to log on to the website www.kcstadium.co.uk/ba for any other inquiries instead of calling the venue's switchboard. source: thisishull.co.uk
