BA customises guitar for the 'RockChic' Exhibition - Bryan has customised a Fender Stratocaster for the 'RockChic' exhibition which is currently being held at the National Gallery in Dublin, Ireland until January 21st. It moves to London's 'Harrods' on February 1st and ends on March 3rd. Here it will expand to include a Rock Lounge featuring a live music stage, catwalk, and Champagne bar. At this time the exhibition will take on a new title... 'BornToRock', for what is essentially a 'History of Rock' multi-media experience, occupying a huge space on the second floor of the Harrod's store. The exhibition features more than 100 legendary, vintage, rare and customised guitars, in an exhibition which examines the electric guitar’s origins, and focuses on its evolution and influence on society over the last 75 years. It's essentially, a 'History Of Rock' multi-media experience, showcasing guitars and artists who have helped shape contemporary pop culture.

Bryan's design is called 'Kate' and says Bryan "it's Kate in all her beauty". Bryan has also signed the guitar. He previously photographed Kate for his 2000 book 'Haven'. Other designs include 'Sweetface' by Jennifer Lopez, 'Offender' by Anton Corbijn and 'Guitar With Own Hand' by Graham Coxon. Rumours are by the time the exhibition hits London, U2's Bono will have also customised one of these special Fenders as well. Go to www.rockchic.tv to view all the guitars in full and much more.

Visitors to the exhibition will embark on a journey which spans 75 years, featuring guitars and artists who have helped shape contemporary pop culture, starting with the legendary ‘Frying Pan’ the worlds first electric guitar – never previously exhibited outside of the US. The exhibition also presents a remarkable display of rare and vintage guitars from the world’s leading manufacturers, including Gibson, Rickenbacker, Fender and PRS, to the most exclusive bespoke custom producers.

If you like to Rock ‘N’ Roll, you’ll love the collection of ultra famous instruments, associated with many of rock’s greatest icons, including the likes of Carlos Santana, The Edge, Keith Richards, Mark Bolan, Jimi Hendrix, Noel Gallagher and Rory Gallagher, as well as contemporary guitars from Alex Kapranos (Franz Ferdinand), Sergio Pizzorno (Kasabian) and Christina Aguilera.

Each of the customised RockCouture guitars will be auctioned for the benefit of registered charities, nominated by the individual Creators, including Maggie’s Cancer Caring Centres, Amnesty International, Keep A Child Alive, the Irish Hospice Foundation and Breast Cancer Haven. So if you have a lot of spare cash lying around why not put a bid in for BA's guitar it's for a great cause! source:rockchic.tv

'Never Gonna Break My Faith' - nominated for Golden Globe! - yes thats right, the song written by BA, Eliot Kennedy and Andrea Remanda for the film 'Bobby' has been nominted for a Golden Globe Award in the category of 'Best Original Song - Motion Picture'. Bryan originally sang the song (and his version featured in the early trailers of the film) however the final version used was done by Aretha Franklin and Mary J Blige. As you may already know BA was nominated for a 'Golden Satellite Award' for 'Never Let Go' which was of course the theme song from the movie 'The Guardian'... however, it's the Golden Globes that are the real deal when it comes to awards. Only the Oscars superceed them. What is really a great thing about the Golden Globe Awards is that they are a strong indictation as to who wins / gets nominated at the Academy Awards (Oscars). So if Bryan's song is up for nomination here... it could well be up for an Oscar come the new year. The 64th Annual Golden Globe Awards will go out live across the states on January 15th on NBC at 8pm EST. Check your countries TV listings for screening times if you live outside the US. The full nomination list for category of 'Best Original Song - Motion Picture', is as follows...

"A Father's Way" – The Pursuit Of Happyness
"Listen" – Dreamgirls
"Never Gonna Break My Faith" – Bobby
"The Song Of The Heart" – Happy Feet
"Try Not To Remember" – Home Of The Brave

BA the subject of Indianapolis artwork - Internationally recognised artist Julian Opie was commissioned to do a 'Signs' exhibition in Indianapolis from September '06 to September '07 which would see various pieces of art dotted across the city. Julian says of the exhibition..."I wanted to use the look of business signs. Modern towns are full of these often large and illuminated objects but they are somewhat invisible now. They are equivalent to historial statuary, relating architecture and having a symbolic role."

"Bryan Adams wanted a portrait of himself for an album and we set a date for a photo-shoot. I asked Bryan to hold his guitar and he played some riffs from the latest album (a live loop of 'Right Back Where I Started From'). I photographed every pose without knowing quite what I would do with them. I first used the images for a series of paintings, which emitted sound. Bryan agreed to swap the portrait for a short piece of music, which plays looped from speakers attached to the rear of the canvas. I wanted to use the look of business signs. Modern towns are full of these often large and illuminated objects but they are somewhat invisible now. They are equivalent to historial statuary, relating architecture and having a symbolic role".

'Never Gonna Break My Faith' - this new song from the film 'Bobby' has now been previewed in trailers. If Aretha Franklin is still meant to be singing this in the final version of the film, then this could just be a demo they have used for an advanced trailer (like when they used Bryan's voiceover instead of Matt Damons in early 'Spirit' trailers). The film has an awesome cast though and pretty much anyone who's anyone is in it...Laurence Fishburne, Heather Graham, Josh Jackson, Anthony Hopkins, Elijah Wood, Lindsay Lohan, Cristian Slater, Demi Moore, Emilio Estevez, Helen Hunt, Sharon Stone, Martin Sheen and Ashton Kutcher among others. South American Tour - long awaited news about BA's Tour of South America is falling into place. We already know he is planning to visit Brazil however the first confirmed tourdate of 2007 is in Uruguay. Check the tourdates section for more details. BA works with Opera Star Katherine Jenkins (story by Andy Coleman, Birmingham Mail) - Everything Bryan did, he did it for Katherine

When Bryan Adams topped the charts in 1991 with (Everything I Do) I Do It For You the then 11-year-old Katherine Jenkins loved it so much she learnt to play it on the piano. Little did she know that 15 years later she would record a classical version of the record-breaking song - with Bryan Adams playing guitar.

"I've loved that song since I saw it in Robin Hood, Prince of Thieves," reveals the 26-year-old Welsh soprano. "As I did with Dolly Parton's I Will Always Love You on my last album I had the lyrics translated into Italian but I had to get permission from the writer. "So I got in touch with Bryan who said 'Wow, it's an amazing idea' and he asked to be involved in the recording. "It was really funny, him being in the studio playing guitar while I sang his song in Italian."

The track will be featured on Katherine's forthcoming album Serenade - but Bryan Adams's involvement doesn't end there. "As well as being a musician he's a well known photographer so I asked him to shoot the album sleeve," says Katherine. "He's come up with something a little different - the photos are soft and girlie but a little bit magical. "I think he's fantastic and we've become good friends. He works hard and is very passionate about what he does. But he's also down to earth and loves music."

Bryan has also offered to write a song for Katherine. "He loves opera and grew up listening to it in his home so the song with have a classical feeling. He's very good at writing for specific people. It will have a commercial edge but I won't be moving into the pop world." Thanks to Marie Austin

More on Adams and Joel at the Colosseum - Rockers Bryan Adams and Billy Joel are the “ospiti d’onore” at this year’s free-entry Telecomcert to be held at the Colosseum on Monday, 31 July at 21.00. Canadian-born Bryan Adams will take the stage first and will sing for about an hour, followed by a two-hour performance by “Mister Piano man” Billy Joel, who hasn’t performed on Italian soil for over 11 years. The show will conclude with a duet by the international stars, who will wow the crowds with either a Beatles or Rolling Stone hit song.

T.he event, which is organised by Telecom and city every summer, boasts a 26-metre long stage and ten megascreens. Numerous tents will be set up to deal with emergencies and three tanks of drinking water will be available to the public. A special area for the disabled (with some 200 seats) will also be available. Special barriers will be set up to protect the monuments and archaeological sites along Via dei Fori Imperiali.

Streets around the Colosseum will remain closed on the evening, as will the metro B “Colosseum” stop. However there will be more night buses (see www.atac.roma.it for more information). Previous Telecomcerto’s guest stars include Paul McCartney, Simon & Garfunkel and Elton John. Crowds expected should be in line with previous years’ figures, some 500 000 spectators. Rome’s mayor Walter Veltroni will be attending this year’s performance. The show will be screened live on state television Raidue and will be available on the internet in September on Telecom Italia’s site www.rossoalice.it. The two stars are set to arrive on Sunday and will be lodging at De Russie Hotels.

You can listen to the show live by clicking here:

But as yet we are not sure if this link is a delayed video broadcast.

Bryan to play 'colossal' show in Rome - On July 31st, Bryan will play a huge free show infront of the Colosseum in Rome, surrounded by the ancient ruins. The show is being organized by 'Telecom Italia' and in previous years has been fronted by Paul McCartney, Elton John and Simon & Garfunkel... each playing to over 400,000 fans. Joining Bryan will be Billy Joel who will be co-headlining the show. Both Billy and Bryan will play their own set of songs, and then the main segment of the concert will be a duet section where they will cover songs of other artists together... all in a show lasting more than 3 hours. Originally, only Billy Joel was supposed to be performing. It seems that Billy Joel himself suggested Bryan as an ideal partner. The event organizers were taken aback, especially because of the different music styles of the 2 performers. Billy Joel gave them appropriate reassurances and now BA and Billy will work on the setlists. It seems that Billy will open the show, then the duet section will follow (only cover songs will be performed),and then BA will take the stage with his Dudes and do his bit. The closing part of the show will see BA and Billy together on stage once again. Italian press are saying that since Bryan & Billy collectively aren't as big an act as the likes of McCartney (well obviously) and Elton John (yeah right!) that this years show won't be as good. However, from a BA fan's point of view... this could be one of the landmark shows everyone talks about for years to come..... and it's free! Get yourself there if you can! source: Stefano & Italian Press

Bryan's clothing up for auction - Bryan has donated a pair of 'Jean Shop' jeans and a 'John Richmond' shirt to the RSPCA. Click on the links to view them and start bidding.

Release and tour news - Bryan came online to chat to his fans the other day. No major new news to tell other than he doesn't expect the next album to be ready this year, and thinks it should be out by early next year. The 'Waking Up The World' DVD is also ready to go, so a release date shouldnt be too far away for that. He also hinted at more USA shows in the fall. Tourdates for Scandinavia have also been confirmed. You can see them in full in the tourdates section. Swedish dates go onsale today (May 31st) are are available through ticnet.se and ema.se. On sale dates are unknown for Norway (ticnet.no), Denmark (billetnet.dk) and Finland (ticnet.fi) as of yet but keep yourself up to date with the ticket agencies mentioned.

Kubrick movie update - New tracks on the soundtrack for the Kubrick movie have emerged. As well as 'I'm Not The Man You Think I Am', and 'It's All About Me' which we have already heard 2 other tracks have come to the fore...'Rely On Me' and 'Too Good To Be True'. Both written by Bryan and Sheffield native Eliot Kennedy in 2004. Stay tuned for the soundtrack in the future. Thanks to John.

UK Tour support news - before BA's main support act Beverley Knight comes onstage, a band called '10 Reasons To Live' will also be supporting. The shows they will be doing are Huddersfield, Bridgend, Newcastle and Swindon. Visit their website by clicking here go> (Thanks to Jack)

Your chance to sing with Bryan - the NSPCC is doing a set of 'dream auctions' to help less fortunate children in the UK. People like David Beckham and Sting have donated...and so has Bryan. The winning bidder will get to sing onstage with Bryan at a UK June/July show of their choice from the following: The possible dates are: 1st June – Huddersfield; 2nd June-Bridgend, Wales; 4th June- Galway, Ireland; 6th June-Newcastle; 8th June- Swindon; 20th July – Blickling Hall- Norwich; 21st July - Kedleston Hall, Derby. Last year, another person won a bid (which was a celebrity 'Children In Need' auction if I remember rightly) to sing 'When You're Gone' with Bryan onstage on this tour...hence why the Northampton/Liverpool dates might not be available for selection. Anyway the NSPCC 'dream auction' website can be viewed here go> and the ebay bidding page for the chance to sing with Bryan onstage can be viewed here go> Happy bidding!

Album News - Bryan came online to talk to his fans last week and among the conversation he talked about work on the next studio album. One of the songs he wrote with Jim Vallance will hopefully be on the album. Apparently it's got the same kind of tempo to it as 'Heat Of The Night'. Bryan says the next album will sound "similar to 'Room Service' only better". Release is currently expected at the end of '06 UNLESS he re-records again... which he may well do. The new bryanadams.com website will be launched in conjunction with the album and he also expects to tour upon release. As we all know with Bryan these plans could all change and nothing is confirmed.

New Interview - Bryan does an interview with 'Classic Rock Revisited'. Click here to read go>

10 Million Can't Be Wrong (BBC Radio 2 - 03/05/06 -10pm GMT) - Kate Thornton explores albums which have each sold in excess of 10 million copies worldwide, revealing what was at work in the tracks that appealed to so many people.

The 1991 album Waking Up the Neighbours by Canadian rocker Bryan Adams took four years to record. Bryan revisits the tracks, reflecting on working with producer Mutt Lange, life at Willsden's Battery Studios and the success of the first single release from the album - Everything I Do I Do It For You - which stayed for 16 weeks at number 1 in the UK and changed the direction of Adams' career. He reflects on how he wrote the 16 songs on the album and gives a rare insight into this remarkable record of the '90s which now sits in over 12 million record collections across the world. People in the UK wishing to listen on the radio can do so on 88-91FM. You can also listen online wherever you are in the world at bbc.co.uk/radio2. Thanks to Denise.

Pam to duet with Bryan in Ireland? - Blonde bombshell Pamela Anderson is planning to team up with her fellow Canadian native Bryan Adams at his major open-air concert in Ireland this summer. The former Baywatch beauty is expected to perform with the singer as he rocks Galway's Pearse Stadium in June. Pamela revealed her singing skills when she added her vocals to Bryan's latest album - performing with him on the Mel C duet, Baby When You're Gone, for the 25-year anthology of his hits which was released last year.

Now Bryan has invited the stunner, who is dating Irish race ace Eddie Irvine, to join him on stage when he stars at Galway's Tribe Vibe music festival on June 4th. A spokesperson for the event said: "He heard Pamela was planning to come to Ireland with Eddie this summer - so he rang her and asked her to come to Galway with him. They're both from Canada and are old pals and she said she'd love to go to his gig. I dont know whether he'll get her on stage with him but he's going to try."

Buxom buety Pam is expected to check into the new ultra-chic 5 satr Phillip Tracey designed G Hotel which overlooks Lough Atalia when she comes to stay in Galway. The pin up has been enjoying a racy romance with former Formula One driver Irvine for the past two months. The blonde, who was married to Motley Crue wildman, Tommy Lee, has been spotted cuddling with the mega-rich ladies man sports star at the glitzy Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles.

Adams, The Groover from Vanvouver, has sold over 50 million albums during a career that has spanned over 20 years. He holds the record for the longest running No1 single in British charts with Everything I Do, I Do It For You.
